MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) Wood Lettering is a popular wooden signage option that is used. MDF in some ways is similar to the more commonly known “Chipboard”, but differs vastly in how it’s made and its features. A mixture of wooden fibres is combined with a resin which acts as a binder. This is then compressed under high pressure and temperature that gives it much more density and strength than Chipboard.
MDF Wood is characterised by being highly resistant to humidity, moisture and heat, which would otherwise warp and cause other woods to spoil. This characteristic makes MDF Wood ideal as an outdoor signage solution. The wood is also even and doesn’t suffer from other weaknesses incurred in other types of Chipboards or solid woods.
MDF can have a number of varnish and paint products applied to it without the need for excessive recurring coats. This is due to the edges being perfectly even.
As an interior signage option, MDF wood lettering offers a high quality image when coupled with polished aluminium trimmings and a rear halo-lighting system for example.
